…to plant anything.
Is that what you’re thinking? We would never want to say you’re wrong so how about this? You’re half right. While you may feel it’s too hot for you to plant anything, it’s not too hot for us, and it’s definitely not too hot for the plants. In fact, plants thrive in this weather, as long as they have plenty of water (we’ll touch on that later). Here at DesignScapes, we plant year-round, whether it’s extremely hot or extremely cold. We provide services for customers year-round, as we strive to prove that we’re the most reliable landscaping company in Raleigh!
But someone told me this is a horrible time for new plantings…
While you may be half right, whoever told you that is completely wrong. This is the perfect time for new plantings. During this time of year, we use only container grown material (pot in pot) when it comes to new plantings.
Pot in pot?
Pot in pot is one of the best ways to grow healthier plants. The plant is grown in a pot, which is placed in a socket in the ground. It allows for better control of the growing environment, which allows better watering and fertilizing. Since it’s kept safe in a pot, the rootball maintains better temperatures and moisture. When it’s time for the plant to be sold, nurseries simply remove the pot from the ground, leaving the rootball and roots intact. This method of growing is mainly used for large trees and large evergreen plants but has also been successful in growing smaller plants. So if you’re worried about plants not being successful if planted during this time…fret not, we’re using pot in pot!
Are you convinced yet? You should be.
But it’s too time consuming costly to water my plants…
We’ve got that covered too.
So as you know, plants need water to survive, and lots of it during the summer! Way too often, landscapes are not as successful because they are not properly watered. If you have a large landscape, it can be really time consuming to make sure it’s all watered properly. In this day and age, we are much busier, even if that consists of binge watching shows on Netflix. Let’s face it, watering your brain with “quality” television is more exciting than watering your landscape. Cliche and all, would you like to have your cake and eat it too? Consider adding drip tubing to your landscape!
Drip tubing, eh? What’s that?
We take a long tube and plant it underground. There is a hose end connector that connects to your water hose. All you have to do is turn on the water and let the magic happen.
That sounds costly to install and it also sounds like it would use a lot of water!
Just like looks, sounds can be deceiving as well. Depending on the size of your landscape, it’s relatively low cost to install drip tubing. Not to mention, we offer competitive pricing, beating out many of our fellow landscaping companies here in the Triangle. As far as the amount of water used, drip tubing is the most efficient way to water your plants. Unlike a sprinkler system or soaker hose, drip tubing has emitters for each plant, so there is no water wasted in between.
It’s Summer. We’re going to be out of town and taking many trips.
We can take care of that too. By request, we can add a timer to your drip tubing to ensure your plants are being watered properly while you’re out of town. You don’t have to rely on your neighbor! That way you don’t have to worry and you and have a nice drip. We mean trip. Well, both.
